468.8423 Grandfather clause.

Florida grandfathering provisions for mold assessor and mold remediator licensing ended on March 1, 2011. Mold Assessors and Mold Remediators who currently want to be licensed for Florida must obtain a license from the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation. (FL BBPR)

Florida Statute 468.8413 and 468.8414 require:


For Mold Remediators,

1.) Pass the required mold remediation examination offered by the
American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC). To qualify for this exam, you must complete training by a registered course provider. Searchable List: http://www.acac.org/ Search Term: Mold

2.) Have at least a 2-year associate of arts degree, or the equivalent, with at least 30 semester hours in microbiology, engineering, architecture, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, or a related field of science from an accredited institution and a minimum of 1 year of documented field experience in a field related to mold remediation;
or have a high school diploma (or equivalent) with a minimum of 4 years of documented field experience in a field related to mold remediation.

For Mold Assessors,

1.) Pass the required mold assessment examination offered by the
American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC). To qualify for this exam, you must complete training by a registered course provider. Searchable List: http://www.acac.org/ Search Term: Mold

2.) Have at least a 2-year associate of arts degree, or the equivalent, with at least 30 semester hours in microbiology, engineering, architecture, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, or a related field of science from an accredited institution and a minimum of 1 year of documented field experience in conducting microbial sampling or investigations;
or have a high school diploma (or equivalent) with a minimum of 4 years of documented field experience in conducting microbial sampling or investigations.

3.) Be of good moral character and complete an
electronic fingerprint background check.

4.) Obtain a $1,000,000 insurance policy to cover both preliminary and post-remediation assessment.

5.) Pay the $330 license application fee.
